The best thing is to eat a big lunch (even the more expensive restaurants have an inexpensive lunch special) and eat a smaller dinner at one of the restaurants listed. Finally, there are the free activities and museums. Summertime is usually ideal for free activities since most festivals have free outdoor events. The Montreal International Jazz Festival is the best example with hundreds or free outdoor shows (around the Place-des-Arts).
