General information

As of May 31 2006, it is forbidden to smoke in all Quebec (including Montreal!) bars.
Bar/Club hours : last call is 3:00am at the latest.
Legal drinking age : 18 (bring proper identification, preferably one with a picture like a driving license).
Tenue de ville : some more upscale clubs ask for a "tenue de ville", which means no old jeans, sneakers, or leather vests. Just dress cleanly but you don't have to go as far as putting on a tuxedo...
Cover charge: there is no particular rule about cover charges in bars and clubs (usually there's one when there's a live show or special event). Some have it, some don't but one thing is sure, they rarely display the price at the entrance.
